Sweet perfume: the origins of Angel
The fragrance finds its inspiration in Thierry Mugler’s childhood memories: joyful afternoon teas in Vittel and tastes of candy-apples and candy floss indulged in the funfairs of Strasbourg. Elaborated with the help of the perfumer Olivier Cresp, the Angel fragrance revisits the scent of baking, desserts and sweet aisles in supermarkets. Thanks to the Ethyl maltol compound, the classic confectionery of fairgrounds was recreated, giving its indulgent signature to the Mugler fragrance: feminine and inimitable. The result? A haunting gourmand perfume, bringing each and everyone back to memory lane.
The audacious creation has enabled women around the globe to play with their duality. Identified as a play between innocence and sensuality, between softness and strength, Angel’s vanilla fragrance offers this power of metamorphosis.
A unique creation and exhilarating interplay of multiple facets.
The essence of femininity.
Patchouli perfume: Angel’s signature ingredient
The velvety seduction of Mugler’s Angel is brought by the woody depth of the Patchouli scent,
increased to the extreme. Given center-stage by Monsieur Mugler with Angel Eau de Parfum, its
overdose of pure Patchouli essence made the perfume a pioneer in the fragrance industry. Monsieur
Mugler instinctively placed emphasis on this noble, mysterious ingredient as the signature note of
the brand's star perfume as combined with other unexpected ingredients: bergamot and red fruit, but
also praline, in order to deliver the most powerful, enveloping and recognizable trail.
A legendary perfume was born, out of this world.
Angel… the name presupposed a soft, floral,
fruity scent… instead, Angel is powerful,
hyper-sensual and very
sexy

REDISCOVER THE SIGNATURE FRAGRANCE ANGEL EAU DE PARFUM
GOURMAND PERFUME:
ANGEL'S SIGNATURE TRAIL
An over-the-top scent, born from the creative’s extravagant imagination and childhood
memories. At a time when fragrance was mostly minimal and subtle, Angel breaks with
convention. It’s the first scent with no floral notes, instead bursting with overdoses
of high-quality ingredients.
As the first decadent amber fragrance, Angel Eau de Parfum has paved the way for
limitless pleasure.
It took 18 months of work for Mugler’s Angel to reveal its fragrance trail: fresh,
indulgent and voluptuous. Thanks to its creation, Monsieur Mugler launched the
“gourmand” perfume but also “the female essence”, in memory of the Ambery fragrance that
his mother used to wear. A powerful olfactory signature redefining the codes of
femininity. A precursor since 1992 with its unique praline core, celestial blue juice
and addictive notes, Angel is forever a deeply contemporary fragrance. Balancing
decadence and pleasure, innocence and sensuality, it carries a paradoxical, complex and
versatile vision of femininity that feels more relevant today than ever.

PATCHOULI:
A RICH AND RESPONSIBLE
INGREDIENT
Hand-picked throughout the year, its leaves are left to dry for three days, then collected
in packs which rest for several days before the distillation process. The flower is
collected and distilled on the island of Sulawesi - the Indonesian archipelago - according
to practices honoring the land and local communities. Obtained respecting the Givaudan
Sourcing for Shared Value program (guaranteeing the best possible agricultural practices to
minimize environmental impact), Patchouli must be extracted in line with the rules of the
art, not only to contribute to protecting the environment, but also to deliver the full
richness and depth of its earthy and enticing notes. Hand-picked throughout the year, its
leaves are left to dry for three days, then collected in packs which rest for several days
before the distillation process.
NB: To ensure the purest form possible, Patchouli undergoes a double distillation. The
first, on its leaves, allows the full splendor of its olfactory components to be extracted,
while the second enables all of the heavy and earthy molecules to be removed.
For Mugler, fragrance is the art of metamorphosis. Angel Eau de Parfum reveals a woman’s
personality, giving her confidence and playfulness, encouraging her to embrace pleasure, and
her very own duality. Patchouli, an ingredient of infinite sensuality.
